In Taiwan, a small island country in the edge of Pacific Ocean, thousands of Indonesia sailors has been working with Taiwanese fisherman. Most of them work as crew on various type of fishing boats, and the others work in the shipping industry. The big wave of these Indonesian workers came to Taiwan in the early 2000’s, and the number is still increasing to present. Indonesian, together with the Filipinos, Thai and Vietnamese, are the biggest number among the foreign sailors in Taiwan due to the shortage of local crew labor.

These pictures are taken at Dongkang, Pingtung, and Suao, Yilan. Portray their common activities: hanging out on boats in their free time, unloading fishes after sailing, preparing nets for next cruise, gathering in majlis taklim and praying together, and some sceneries of the ports where they lives.
